98% of women that aborted did so after weighting the responsibility of motherhood. Still in the United
States 270,000 children go to foster care per year and only 50000 are adopted, per year.
I turned 50 this year, therefore I should not tip toe around the issues in my paintings, at least, not all the time.

I am a believer in information, yes, it may be twisted, and corrupted by motives. That is why I research. Data will
be a part of many of my pieces, and if I have it my way, and if I find a way, i would love it to be pivotal to my
work.

I am not there yet, I still paint based on emotions, mostly, and that is my show presented on 2011 at Ariodante
Gallery.

Barely 70 years ago women started getting rights that common men have enjoyed for centuries.
Only 40 years ago, which is nothing, women were having their own revolution, therefore history thinks of us as
a young country, needing guidance and control.

My mother, an extremely modern woman of her time was crushed by womanhood, what a woman was
supposed to be, to behave and to feel. So a big part of my painting has her in mind.

The social portrait of woman is shallow, picture posing, she is depicted fragile, without character, generic....
That has been a trait of my paintings. This time I elaborated in these attributes, particularly in my tile pieces....
thanks to Gustavo who was very enthusiastic about me learning it.

I dealt with the economical and ecological pressures on a way that I am very proud of. I looked for information,
painted over it and held back (which is extremely difficult for me). I hope you can feel my short temper and the
anxiety I feel regarding the danger I think we are in.

I painted too about an ill concept of freedom and liberty. Beautifully sad.

And last, I threw in speckles of humanhood, carried by women... with the hope that you understand what I
mean....different things are asked from women...
